How the verdict works
Fuel for the run is total miles divided by your MPG, times the diesel price. Whatever the load pays minus that fuel, divided by every mile you drive including deadhead, is your after-fuel number.
- Take it: $0.75 a mile or more after fuel.
- Thin: $0.25 to $0.75. Fine if it puts you somewhere better.
- Walk: under $0.25.
These lines are a starting point. Your real floor is your cost per mile.
